The film is very eye opening
We screened What I Wish My Parents Knew for the parents at our church. The film is very eye opening. While it’s a very heavy topic the film handles the subject matter with care. It was the perfect way to open a dialogue about this important topic.

I highly recommend What I Wish My Parents Knew
I highly recommend What I Wish My Parents Knew. What I found so valuable in this program was the fact that the creators weren’t trying to make a “movie.” Instead, they really captured the raw and unfiltered thoughts and feelings of youth such that we as parents could more deeply understand what was in their heads and hearts, and in effect, help us understand what may be going through our own loved ones minds and hearts. I have never seen such a real and respectful illustration of youth and what they may be going through.

An incredibly important examination of an incredibly important issue
What I Wish My Parents Knew is an incredibly important examination of an incredibly important issue. Looking deeply into an issue as important childhood mental health and suicidal ideation is so important. Hearing this issue discussed in the voices of children who have endured this pain is deeply moving. I recommend this video with deep conviction and admiration for the children whose voices we hear and for Jason Reid and the directors who produced it.

Heart-warming and heart-breaking at the same time
Heart-warming and heart-breaking at the same time. A much needed piece on mental health that provides a sobering look into what some youths are experiencing. I gained greater empathy for their struggles and started to understand ways to be supportive, giving me hope. Much more to be learned.

Real teenagers share some of the darkness…
Real teenagers share some of the darkness that teenagers feel—and how we can help. The interviews in this film show you, gracefully and honestly, the darkness some teenagers have been through—and how you can help teenagers you know.

Have you ever wondered what was going on inside…
Have you ever wondered what was going on inside the mind of a child you’re worried about, but they just wouldn’t open up? What I Wish My Parents Knew will introduce you to what’s going on in your child and enable you to change the conversations you’re having into being more patient, empathic and warm, which is just what they need to open up to you.

It helped her understand that this is a crisis in all communities.
I wasn’t sure what it was about, but I’m glad I came and especially my mom who was the caregiver at the time my nephew committed suicide. It helped her understand that this is a crisis in all communities. ❤️. For me, it’s helped me to start listening for cues in my children and when they tell me about conversations they’ve had with their friends.

Brought Our Family Close Together
I really enjoy playing this card game with my family. The questions prompt conversations we would never have otherwise and it feels like we’re breaking through walls we didn’t even realize were there.
This game gives us a safe way to open up and we’re constantly learning so much about each other that we would have never shared on our own. It’s always a lot of fun, a little emotional and surprisingly healing ♥
Highly recommend for any family, no matter your age or background.

Thoughtful questions offer a great guide to conversation.
I got the card game over a year ago and had a great time playing it with friends. The questions are thoughtful and guided us to talk about more than the usual weather-work-school topics, we had a great time and got to know eachother better.
100% recommend.
